GENETICS

PATTERN OF INHERITANCE

There is a higher prevalence of febrile seizures in first degree relatives, suggesting genetic factors play a role, but there is no classical inheritance pattern.

KNOWN GENES

There are no established genes, outside of rare case reports, and no clear indication to perform genetic testing.

FAMILY HISTORY OF SEIZURES/EPILEPSY

There is a higher prevalence of febrile seizures in first degree relatives and case reports of siblings with other self-limited focal epilepsies of childhood.
