EPILEPSY WITH EYELID MYOCLONIAS
The characteristic features of eyelid myoclonias, induced by eye
closure and by photosensitivity, means that this syndrome is often easy
to distinguish from other epilepsy syndromes.
Differential diagnoses include:
- Facial tics (often this syndrome is missed and patients are mistakenly thought to have facial tics)
- Patients with other epilepsy syndromes with photosensitivity may self-induce (with eye closure) absence seizures with eyelid flutter.
