EPILEPSY WITH EYELID MYOCLONIA (EEM)

The characteristic features of eyelid myoclonias, induced by slow eye closure and by bright light, means that this syndrome is usually easy to distinguish from other conditions.

Differential diagnoses include:

• Tic disorder e.g. ocular tics
• Photic-induction of absence or myoclonic seizures can occur in other syndromes and etiologies, but eyelid myoclonia is not seen
